Reiki
The practice of Reiki is an energetic method of healing both the self and others; developed by Mikao Usui in Japan early in the 20th century. Eastern medicine has always recognized and worked with this energy, which flows through all living things and is vital to well-being. In fact your health is measured by the flow of Ki in these cultures. Known as "Ki" in Japan, "chi or qi" in China and "prana" in India; Acupuncture, Tai chi, Qigong, Yoga and Traditional Martial Arts are also based on the free-flow of this energy in a person.
How does Reiki work?
Reiki is a natural healing energy activated by 'intention'. The practitioner is merely activating the movement of energy; your body will draw on the energy and take it to where it is needed, clearing stagnant energy or blockages.
Safety
Reiki is non-invasive, with the aim to treat the person as a whole. It is gentle enough to use on anyone from newborn to the elderly. It is important to note that Reiki is a complementary therapy; it does not replace modern medicine. As such, it expands treatment options helping to relieve side effects in certain illness and supporting recovery.
What can you expect in a Reiki Treatment?
You can expect to remain fully clothed and treatment can be done laying down, standing or sitting. Your practitioner will take a brief health history and discuss treatment options and preferences. The practitioner will place their hands either on your body or just above the body to activate energy flow. Every Reiki treatment is unique, so individual experiences with Reiki vary.
