  • Are these treatments ongoing
Many clients have routine maintenance treatments at different intervals to maintain body balance and musculo -skeletal integrity, to avoid costly regression and as an investment in their health. Others come regularly because they enjoy the relaxation effect it has on their body and as a maintenance program. Essentially once your symptoms are resolved this is entirely your choice.
  • I have been told that you do not need to disrobe for these treatments. Is this true?
Yes this is correct, bodywork may be done through light clothing. However you may be asked to remove bulky items such as thick jumpers or thick jeans that restrict a fluid movement being performed. Ideally clothing should be light and loose with only one layer to work through.
  • I am pregnant. Can I have these integrated treatments?
Yes, most definitely. Bowen, Emmett and Reiki are some of a very few treatments that can be used during pregnancy because of the gentle nature of the treatment without causing any complications. Please advise your therapist if you are pregnant.
  • How long does a treatment take?
Initial appointments can be a little longer in length so that treatment plans and observations can be made. Treatment times can vary according to the presenting conditions and client factors determined during the initial assessment. Typical follow up mobile/in-home treatment times would range from 45 minutes to one hour. You will be advised as to how many treatments you may need (usually 2-3) and what length of time would be necessary.
  • Why should I choose Integrated treatment?
The principal reason why I integrate different therapies into my treatments is the high rate of success in treating a wide range of presenting conditions and achieving faster outcomes for my clients. This may be a somewhat unique approach but I find it works well. Your safety is of the utmost importance, I can integrate non-invasive therapies that are suitable for everyone and have no contraindications (meaning they can be used no matter what medical care you are undertaking without interference). Another great feature of integrating different Therapies, is that conditions other than those for which treatment has been sought are often resolved.
  • What can I expect to feel from this treatment?
It is different for everyone but on a whole most people feel very relaxed, and the most common response is that they feel lighter or different somehow. Treatments can be done standing, sitting or lying on a bed depending on your symptoms, if you are in a great deal of pain then I will address the body standing & sitting so as not to cause tension due to laying down. Some people may feel different sensations through the body like tingling or pulsing or heat as the body makes corrections and others feel nothing at all. I ask that you drink plenty of water after treatment of any kind in our clinic to help your body rid itself of toxins that may be released after a treatment session.
  • What do I do after a treatment?
You will be given advice during and after your appointment, but usually it is wise to allow yourself the rest of the day doing very little. You will be asked to drink an adequate amount of water after your treatment and continuing throughout the rest of the week, this is usually between 6-8 glasses per day.
  • What is soft tissue muscle therapy or remedial therapy?
Not one size fits all, it is my experience that by integrating therapies that share similar principles I can achieve far better results, which is why I'm a little different to other therapists. Please browse the 'Services Explanations' to get an idea of what these treatments are and how they are applied to get an idea of individual services.
  • What can I expect from you
I respect your privacy and safety at all times and expect the same form of respect and curtisy from you. Whilst this is a very rare event, I wish to inform you that I do not tolerate any sexual connotations or indecent behaviour of any kind. I reserve the right to cease treatment immediately if I deem you have acted inappropriately which includes any conflict or anytime I feel unsafe. You will be charged full fee of treatment session and I will stop treatment immediately. Depending on severity we may report your behaviour to police.
  • Are my treatments confidential?
Absolutely. I respect your right to confidential treatment. Your treatment notes and personal information are kept by and/or visible only to me. Whilst this is a very rare event, I have a duty of care that stipulates I must report any disclosure of self harm, or harm to others. This may be reported to a member of your family or GP or to aurthorities such as police. Also as stated in our 'rights section' I reserve the right to cease treatment immediately if I feel unsafe or there is any inappropriate behaviour. I expect that you have read our full terms of agreement set out when you make an appointment with us.
  • Do you have HiCaps for health funds?
I do not have HiCaps (where you can claim your health insurance and pay the difference)
  • Why can't I claim my Bowen Treatments with Donna Anymore?
Whilst Bowen Therapy has been covered by the majority of private health funds for over 15 years - Our government has changed its policies, allowing private health funds to drop existing requirements in our 'EXTRA's' cover, which means most natural health care will no longer be covered. This came into effect 1st April 2019. You can claim any receipts that you have where treatment has been done prior to 1st April 2019. So if you have any old receipts that you haven't claimed you should still claim these.
